ActiveJet Team – a new power in the Polish cycling community

30-12-2013

A new professional road cycling team has been set up for the 2014 season, thanks to the commitment of Piotr Bieliński, the president of ACTION S.A. The sporting director for the team is Piotr Kosmala, a forerunner of professional road cycling in Poland. The title sponsor is the ActiveJet brand.

Action has been supporting Polish cycling for more than 10 years now, as the title sponsor of professional cycling teams led by Piotr Kosmala. The cyclists managed by Piotr Kosmala have won races worldwide. In 2003, Cezary Zamana, representing the Action nVidia Mróz team won the Tour de Pologne race and was the last Polish cyclist to do so. The year 2014 will mark a comeback not only to the world cycling community, but also, after some time, to the greatest achievements of the past.

The new road cycling team, which was registered as a Continental Team with the International Cycling Union, was born out of ACTION S.A. president Piotr Baliński’s passion for the sport.

“We're opening a new chapter in Polish cycling. We want to follow a road to taking part in the greatest races in the world. My dream is for one of our team's cyclist to take part in the Tour de France race and finish it on the podium. I understand the road to the top is long, but we're developing a project to last for a few years and we should set the highest goals for our team. We’re starting as a continental team, but want to climb to the top quickly. We want to create a team that Poland has never had before. We want to draw on the experience of the world's best teams. We want young cyclists. We're going to create the best possible conditions for their development. We're going to use modern training methodologies based on power measurements. We're also going to use experts on training, nutrition and biological regeneration. We hope to attract an additional sponsor to the project. The plan is an ambitious one and we're going to work hard to make it a reality, - said Piotr Bieliński, president of ACTION S.A, the owner of the ActiveJet brand.

Kosmala’s over 15 years of experience in managing cycling teams will certainly help to develop the team quickly and, as a result, contribute to the team's achievements.

“I'm very happy to know that president Piotr Bieliński is back as a cycling team sponsor. Thanks to people like him, the development of the sport in Poland is realistic. In the 2014 season, our team will have 12 cyclists. What is important is that we've decided to support mostly young and talented cyclists. The average age of our cyclists is not higher than 25 years. As the project involves a few years of cooperation, we want to develop them into ambitious cyclists as a team to be reckoned with not only in Poland, but also worldwide. I’m pleased to know that we've established cooperation with the Copernicus Cycling Academy to provide us with young cyclists. We expect all our efforts to restore the quality of Polish cycling and its importance to the height of its splendour," said Piotr Kosmala.

The ActiveJet Team for the 2014 season will be made up of twelve cyclists: Łukasz Bodnar, Paweł Brylowski, Sławomir Chrzanowski, Konrad Dąbkowski, Jesus Ezquerra, Paweł Franczak, Mario Gonzalez, Tomasz Mickiewicz, David Muntaner, Arkadiusz Owsian, Emanuel Piaskowy, and Michał Podlaski.

In early January, the ActiveJet Team established strategic cooperation with the Copernicus Cycling Academy. The Toruń-based cycling club has become a resource base for the ActiveJet Team. This means that the most talented junior team cyclists from Toruń and the Toruń School of Sports Championship will be able to continue their sport careers as part of the team managed by Piotr Kosmala.
